Practice

Three Materials.
One Hand.

Each material demands a different body — marble requires weight transferred through the mallet handle, steel through the torch, wood through the drawknife pulled toward the chest. The work carries the evidence of this effort.

Close-up of white Carrara marble surface with visible veining and fresh chisel marks

Marble

Carrara · Vermont Verde · Nero Marquina

01

Stone sourced directly from quarries in Carrara and Vermont. Each block is walked before purchase — reading the vein structure, testing the ring. The work begins before the first strike.

Subtractive. Irreversible. Honest.

Welded Corten steel surface showing raw weld seams and oxidized patina texture

Steel

Corten · Raw Mild · Structural

02

Welded in-studio using oxy-acetylene and MIG processes. The weld seam is never ground away — it reads as a drawing line, a decision made permanent by heat and filler rod.

Additive. Scarred. Enduring.

Reclaimed heartwood plank showing nail holes, saw marks, and deep grain texture in warm light

Heartwood

Reclaimed Douglas Fir · Black Walnut · Osage Orange

03

Salvaged from demolished structures — barns, industrial floors, bridge timbers. The wood arrives with a history: nail holes, saw marks, weather staining. These are kept, not hidden.

Found. Remembered. Transformed.
